The Coral Gables Museum holds an annual photo competition called “Capture Coral Gables”. This year, four of my images have been selected for inclusion in the exhibit. The exhibit opens on June 6, 2014 from 6PM – 9PM at the Coral Gables Museum. The images will be on display until August 22, 2014. The winners of the competition are determined by public vote which closes with the exhibition. Please head over to the Museum and vote for my work.

Here are the four images that have been selected:

My Fuji X-T1 arrived yesterday and it is free of the light leak issues that plagued the first batches sent out. The Zeiss Touit 12mm arrived as well and testing of both is underway. I have to say that so far, I am impressed. Here are some samples from last night’s walkabout right around the blue hour.

The Canadian Container Truckers Strike continues with no reasonable end in sight, so I have cancelled my order with Henry’s Camera. I have placed an order with PopFlash in the USA and my X-T1 ships out today. There are no grips available yet in the USA, but I expect that to be rectified shortly. On a positive note, Really Right Stuff has posted a pre-order page for an L-plate for the X-T1 + Battery Grip – a first for compact system cameras. Carl Zeiss was also kind enough to loan me a Touit 12mm f/2.8 lens for my review. This should be fun!

A truckers strike at the Port of Vancouver has greatly impacted the Canadian economy (to the tune of $885M CAD per week) and does not seem to have any end in sight. This is especially troubling for those of us who elected to purchase our Fuji X-T1’s from our neighbor to the North to take advantage of a great offer by Fujifilm Canada (free VG-XT1 vertical battery grip with the purchase of the X-T1 body only) and favorable currency exchanges. I spoke to Henry’s Camera where I had placed my order and was informed that there is a shipping container from Fujifilm sitting at the Port of Vancouver. The container cannot be checked in through Customs until the strike is resolved one way or another.

Despite this latest setback (the first being a light leak in the first batch of X-T1’s shipped), I am keeping my order with Henry’s and patiently waiting this all out. Please understand if my review is a bit delayed.
