Excellent point, Peter. Yes, the magenta cast can be corrected using the method you described, but it requires a bit of photoshop skill and is not a \"one click\" solution. The way to best avoid it, and shoot color, is to use the IR cut filter. The M9 eliminates this requirement.

Very nice review. Only a little correction: With some work it is possible to remove the magenta cast in the M8 pictures. I have an M8 myself and the way to go is: select the magenta area, duplicate the layer and filter blur average. Then adjust, negative. Change the modus of the duplicated layer to colour and use the opacity slider to get the correct colour.

Cheers,
Peter.

I have to agree, but most users don't have access to large format printers. I myself printed the shot of the girl with the glasses at 16x20 on my Canon IPF W6400 Pg 24" printer and the detail was amazing. I gave the print to her for being a good sport and letting me use her photo.

I have had my M9 since December and love it, just about every review I have seen goes on about image quality but to me the one thing that should be mentioned is print quality, it is wonderful, thew closest to wet printing I have seen since I went digital!

You are absolutely correct. I shall make a correction immediately. (That's the beauty of this medium!)

If you check with Leica, I think you'll find the Tri-Elmar M (16 -18 - 21) is still in production. The 28 - 35 - 50 Tri-Elmar has been discontinued.
